ABOUT ME

Alexus Rhone (she/her/hers, affectionately known as “Lex”) is a writer, producer, and artistic theologian who explores the power of truth when ‘dressed’ in story.
Founder of Truth Meet Story, LLC, expanding empathy one story at a time, Lex tells stories about the sweetness of Black girls and the compassion of Black women on diverse platforms - page, stage, screen, web, radio, and podcasts.
She entered the creative ecosystem publishing a YA-novel series targeting reluctant readers within the urban context. Premature Pleasures, Secret Shame, Backseats and Bleachers: A High School Love Story, and Cover The Coo are page-turning “mirrors” and love notes to Lex’s readers where she says, “I see you. No judgment.”
Over the past twenty years, she has expanded her storytelling repertoire to include stage productions “29 Years For 13 Seconds,” “Call & Response,” “Ancient Of Ways: For Colored Girls Who’ve Considered Ifa When Jesus Came Up Short,” “DIGNITY,” and “Pitching My Tent Too Close To Sodom: Justice For Rosa Lee Ingram”; digital storytelling series “#TheBounceBackRDU,” “#Proverbs32”, “Religion, Philosophy & Mental Health in Black Americans”; the documentary “Drowning My Shame”; and a host of live storytelling events, including “Tellebration Dallas: For God So Loved Those Loud Black Girls” and “Jesus, Jazz & Dessert Wine@Vespers.”
Deeply impacted by the creative journey of Alice Childress, a contemporary of famed playwright Lorraine Hansberry who created content for her context, Lex has written, directed, and produced original content for this context. The burden of this moment in history to counter the attempts to erase Black women’s contributions and Black girls’ value undergirds the framing and tone of Lex’s narratives.
Lex holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Bachelor of Journalism/Public Relations degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
