What is TMS Womanist Theatre?
Truth Meet Story (TMS) Womanist Theatre centers Black women characters and narrative perspectives.
As a dramatic and performance practice, TMS centers the triumphs of Black women using storytelling and nonlinear stage structure.

Key Features of TMS Womanist Theatre
BLACK-WOMAN CENTERED: The stories originate from and center Black women’s perspectives and voices.

INTERSECTIONAL: Through layered storytelling, TMS creatively navigates narrative themes that acknowledge how race, gender, class, and other identities shape lived realities, while affirming the wholeness and sacredness of Black womanhood.

TRANSFORMATIVE: Aims not only to entertain, but to reclaim and re-story joy and justice in Black women-centered narratives.

Join us in reclaiming story as sacred.
